TAN SRI DATO’ 
WONG SEE WAH, PSM, DSNS

CHAIRMAN

Tan Sri Dato’ Wong See Wah was appointed to the Board of Directors on 18 December 2000 as Chairman and Executive Director. As our promoter, director and shareholder, his contributions have greatly influenced the company in its journey of growth and success.

 

Having received professional training fromthe Malayan Teachers’ College in Pulau Pinang, Tan Sri Dato’ Wong began his early career in education. It was in 1981 that he took a step into the political arena, serving as the State Assemblyman for the Kuala Klawang constituency (1982-1986) and Peradong constituency (1986-1990), Member of Parliament for the Rasah constituency (1990-1999), Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (1990-1995) and Deputy Minister of the Finance Ministry (1995-1999). He was also on the Negeri Sembilan State Government Executive Council, responsible for the water and electricity supply portfolio (1982-1990).

 

From 2001 to 2008,Tan Sri Dato’ Wong sat on the boards of various public listed companies and held directorships in other private companies, including chairman of IJM Plantation Berhad, and director at Unisem (M) Berhad and Ewein Berhad.

ALAN HO LEE BENG

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Alan Ho has been a prominent force in Zalam, shaping it into the formidable entity that it is today. He plays an instrumental role in ensuring that all operations and management of the Zalam Group of Companies are well-managed at the highest level of efficiency, which is the hallmark of the company. As Zalam’s executive leader he has taken the company to great heights under his leadership.

 

Ho graduated from The Ohio State Universityin 1984 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He was then headhunted by John Laing PLCto play an important role in a multi-billion-pound nuclear power plant project in the UK, acquiring vast amounts of knowledge and experience in construction. He then joined Zalam in 1994, applying his talents to quickly and vigorously reforming the company, improving the effectiveness and reach of its operations. Within five years he was appointed Zalam’s Managing Director, and has since expanded the company into a medium-sized construction company with contracts worth several hundred million. He has also led Zalam’s diversification to becoming a well-known boutique property development company.

 

Under Ho’s leadership, Zalam has progressed in line with our mission to ‘grow and excel’, and has gained substantial recognition as an innovative enterprise that delivers construction projects with quality assurance, efficiency and sheer excellence.

HANNAH DING

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Upon graduating from the University of Reading with an LLB (Hons), Hannah Ding joined Zalam in 2014 as our in-house legal advisor. A remarkably fast learner, her interest and knowledge in construction and development grew tremendously over a short period, and she quickly began to become involved in the planning and implementation of the company’s work in property development. Her legal expertise has enabled her to fully comprehend construction contracts inside out.

 

Ding’s immense leadership skills have facilitated the smooth and effective administration of the company, and her passion and enthusiasm for the value of continuous learning inspires the innovative thinking that has manifestly influenced several important decisions in some of Zalam’s mega projects. This, along with her many other strengths, has earned her notable recognition in the company.

YONG WEI FUNG

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Meticulous and passionate in his efforts to bring success to the company, Yong Wei Fung is an upcoming force to be reckoned with in Zalam’s leadership. Though young, he has over 15 years of professional training and specialised experience in quantity surveying. He leads the company in all aspects of project management, including financial and contractual administration, strategic planning for day-to-day operations, and long-term business development. He is responsible for implementing the board’s plans and ensuring the effective administration of the company’s daily activities. Additionally, he has played a key role in cultivating a cost-conscious culture among the company’s personnel, directing the business’s focus towards profit making.

 

Yong earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying from the Queensland University of Technology. Soon after, he quickly gained experience in the various facets of construction management, proving himself to be a standout in the industry. This experience involves big and complicated residential cum commercial contracts across various industries, international as well as local, setting him up to take on mega projects in the future.

IR. DR F H KOR

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

With a multitude of prodigious projects under his belt, Ir. Dr. Kor is an embodiment of knowledge and wisdom in the properties development and construction industries. With his vast international and as well as his local experience, he adds a diversified perspective to Zalam’s direction.
 

Ir. Dr. Kor holds a Ph.D in Civil Engineering and a First Class Honours B.Eng degree from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U.K.  He was involved in the research and development of an artificial intelligence knowledge-based computer software system at the University of Strathclyde for the British Transport Research Laboratory, with the research fund granted by the British Transport Department.  Since he began his career in Year 1991 as a Consulting Civil & Structure Engineer in a Civil & Structural Engineering Consulting Engineers firm, he was involved in many large scale projects including the design of the Civil & Infrastructural works for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the design and construction coordination of the Mines Resort City, the Genting Highlands cable car systems, the computer simulation of the Greater Ipoh Water Supply Scheme, and more.
 

Dr. Kor’s academic knowledge and experience strengthen Zalam’s position and credibility by providing expert civil and structural consultation as well as structural value engineering, which improve the efficiency of projects with more competitive costs and shorter construction duration. There has been virtually no engineering problems faced by Zalam throughout the years that Dr. Kor has not been able to solve.
